2020 COVIDSAFE YEAR PREP / FOUNDATION TRANSITION PROGRAM
To prepare for the 2021 school year
Please note, the information below has been emailed to families of students confirmed as being enrolled at AVPS in Year Prep/Foundation in 2021. Please contact the school ASAP if you did not receive this email to help us to update contact details.
Thank you for your patience as AVPS navigates term 4 2020 through a Covid-19 lens. The pandemic has altered most of our usual kindergarten to year prep transition practices, due to parents or visitors being unable to attend our school site.
We have therefore developed a modified CovidSafe transition process and information, featuring:

2. FIRST TIME FAMILIES FORUM
First time families are encouraged to join AVPS staff via the following link for a remote Q&A forum on Wednesday 11th November at 6:00pm. This will be an opportunity to meet current P-2 teachers, The Principal and Assistant Principal and for questions about starting school at AVPS to be addressed.

3. AFTER SCHOOL OUTDOOR ORIENTATION PROGRAM -Save the dates
We are planning 2 after school, 45 minute visits for your children to meet teachers and get to know our school grounds. Please note, Victorian schools are only allowed to host 10 transitioning students at a time and Parents unfortunately are not allowed to enter the school site.
Families will be supplied (email to be sent btw 9/11 & 12/11) with one November date / time as well as one December date / time -see below.

5. FEBRUARY CLASSROOM ORIENTATION PROGRAM
All Year Prep/Foundation children will begin school on Monday 1st February 2021. They will attend from 9:30-12:30 for the first week of their school life. This will mimic the 'in classroom' orientation program that was/is not able to be provided in 2020.

ENROLMENT FORM PROCEDURE
AVPS is now accepting enrolment requests electronically. Please email a request to ascot.vale.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au and attach proof of current residence. Either of following relevant documents will be accepted as proof of current residence - either a current local council rates notice or rental agreement and a current utility bill (gas, water or electricity). These will be matched to your names on your child's birth certificate.
Once requests have been reviewed by office staff and if eligible, an enrolment form will be distributed. AVPS will store copies of proof of residence and additional documents securely with the enrolment form. Documents will be destroyed if families are ineligible for enrolment. AVPS will follow the Department of Education's Privacy Policy when collecting, storing or disposing of personal documents. Once all documents and information have been collected, AVPS will confirm your child’s enrolment as soon as possible.
Enrolment forms are not available on our website. We request parents/guardians please return enrolment forms and accompanying documents (if their child is due to begin in the 2021 school year) ASAP.
IMMUNISATION
Parents must provide immunisation status certificates with enrolment documents, whether the child is immunised or not. Immunisation information for parents enrolling a child can be found at this link.
